Why You Should Watch Out for Government Scam Calls

Spam calls made by people who are trying to impersonate a legitimate government agency are commonly referred to as "government scams". These scammers make the calls to try to get private information from the people they are calling. The most common government agency scammers try to pose as is the IRS. They will call people and tell them they are wanted by the police for tax fraud or unpaid taxes. These calls can be very convincing, as they will tell you your full legal name as well as your address or social security number. However, they are scam calls are should not be trusted. Other agencies these robocalls pose as are the Social Security Administration, Medicare, the FBI, or police departments. All of these calls are spam calls and the callers are committing a crime, so you should not wire money to them or confirm your bank account information. The best thing to do when you believe you are unsure if you are having a conversation with a scammer is to hang up and call the real agency. True government agencies can be trusted and they will confirm whether or not you are wanted for a crime or have not paid your taxes.

Caller: Comcast on behalf of Microsoft Windows
I received a call from this number the guy on the other end sounded Indian, he claimed to be from Comcast and calling on behalf of Microsoft Windows and that my computer was sending them alerts that it was being hacked and he then proceeded to ask me to turn on my computer. When I start to question him about how would he know my computer was sending alerts when I don't have a computer and I questioned him about IT Support procedures he hung up. Please be careful this number is a scam and Microsoft windows Support would have no reason to utilize Comcast.

Calls most days even Sundays...call as early as 7:47 PST and as late as 8:36 PST. Based on my experience along with opinions of friends, family,
and near strangers...they are one of99th the most unethical large companies in America. Due too unfair/undescribed billing, rate hikes, negligent product description, poorly informed employees, trained by supervisors with a SELL NO MATTER WHAT/DISREGARD CUSTOMER SERVICE theory! This works because of the Monopoly Comcast has in many regions.

I am on the do not call list but these people keep calling. They call at night and early morning. They don't give a name but I looked up the number and it says it's Comcast.

This number calls me multiple times a day and never leaves a message. My VM will pick up and they can't seem to understand the have someone's VM. So they keep calling.

I guess, from the reports I see, it's just another annoying call from an automated call list. Never leaves a message. This caller has been blocked a couple of times a day. Annoying seeing it on my blocked list, but it's great not being distracted by the call!

I called 1 800-391-3000 to make an inquiry about my comcast account. Got a call back from 1 800-226-2278 telling me that my account was being audited. They told me I needed to pay more money or my service would be disconnected. Wow! Shady!
