Received call from a female with a very heavy foreign accent saying she was with ATT/Direct TV. She asked if I wanted to get my payments lowered. If so, to give her my account number, etc and she would set me up with a promotion. I suspected it was a scam and told her if she was an ATT/Direct TV employee she should already have that info. I asked what the promotion was that would save me money and she said I WOULD FIRST NEED TO PAY $99.99 and then I would be given a promo code and an phone number to call to start receiving a discount. She kept asking for my account# and I told her she should already have that information and if she told me the account# she had I could confirm if it was correct or not. SHE PUT ME ON HOLD FOR A LONG TIME and then came back with an acct#. Apparently, when she had placed me on hold, she called ATT/Direct TV CLAIMING TO BE ME. I told her I would not be paying them anything and she finally hung up. I then received a call from a real rep from ATT/Direct TV to let me know they had just received a call from a heavily accented female claiming to be me and trying to get info on my account. They refused to give her info because she provided them with an incorrect PIN# and incorrect answers for security questions. They noted on my account that it was a fraudulent call.
Yes they called us too. they say Health Care administator, ask if you can hear them and hang up. It happens all the time
