It sucked

this is a collection agency called GE Money, it shows up on caller id as 'unavailable'.... they call several times a day, very annoying

I've been getting calls from this same number for a month.
Finally I called them today - same as the others, the automated system asks for an account#, I got an operator who tried to search for my account by phone number but she insisted that should couldn't locate any account with that number. Then she tried to search by name with no luck. Then she asked for my social security number. I refused and told her this is very suspicious and that I thought she was phishing. She insisted she was not. She said GE Moneybank would represent financing for things like Tires, Dental, etc. I don't have any credit accounts. I have one mortgage and I subsist on cash. HAH!
So I asked her for her corporate address. She said, well I'm in OHIO, but we are located all over. So I asked again. She said that writing a letter wouldn't get my number removed. So I asked again. She said the best way for me to fix this is to answer the phone the next time they call me.
I explained to her that if she wouldn't so much as provide me with a corporate address, then I certainly would not be providing her with any information. I told her that I believe they are fraudulent and phishing for information and then I hung up.
