"Hi this is Bill with the Prize Distribution Center.Calling in regards to the contest that was entered some time back called the Grand Sweepstakes Giveaway, where your entry" -answering machine message. Now - I do occassionally enter into silly sweepstakeswith the understanding that most of them are scams or that I will receive junk mail for the rest of my life, and probably even after I'm dead. So I called the number. I was greeted by REBECCA TAYLOR. I type in all caps because that's how she talked - LOUD!!! Rebecca proceeded to "verify" my "entry" so that she could determine whether I was still eligible to win. She asked me to verify if I was married (and said my husband's name), asked me if we were between 30 and 70 years old, asked if we made more than $50K combined annually and asked if we were US residents. All questions that could be found out about virtually anyone, but general enough not to cause suspicion to a layman calling in. She yelled at me about my "guaranteed" prize of one of four items:
1st prize: 2010 Lincoln Navigator / 2nd: $2500 Cash "to spend any way my little heart desires" / 3rd: Vacation for two, round trip air fare to any of Vegas, Orlando or Mexico - 3 days, 2 nights / 4th: 32" flat screen Hi-Def television I was guaranteed to "leave the building" with one of these prizes. However, I had to make an appointment to claim it, and BOTH my husband and I needed to show up "ON TIME" in Gurnee, IL at their Claims Office. After a little probing, I found out this would be for a 90 minute session to listen to "A&B Company" (an alleged travel company) talk about their services, "but I have no obligation to buy anything" at 1425 Tri-State Pkwy #130 - SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I got the same phone call said it was Bill and I won a Lincoln Navigator through a sweepstakes I had entered. To call back at 18003013436. He also said congradulations on my voicemail.
Same number, same message left on my answering system. I knew immediately that this is a scam since I did not enter any contests!
Same phone call and phone number...thank u for those who commented on this scam! My husband believes in things like these...I was skeptical and decided to check the Internet!! I love the Internet!!! SCAM!!!!!
I received a call yesterday but don't recall ever entering any sweepstakes. I figured this was a scam, and I am guessing that 9 times out of 10, no one even answers when you call back! The message on our voicemail was as follows:
"TÂhis is Bill from the prize distribution center regarding the grand sweepstakes giveaway you entered some time ago in hopes of winning a Lincoln Navigator, the contest is officially over and we are looking at your entry forms and we do have good news for you please gives us a call back at 1-800-301-3436 as soon as possible and again congratulationÂs."
