YES, SCAM!!!! All they want is money. I saw the message pop up on my ipad and called the nr but had doubts when the guy with an Indian accent (whose name he said was Leon Kennedy and was in Malina, Philippines). All he wanted was my credit card info, a one time fee of $29.99 and then I'd fill out a form online & install a software that would kill this horrible virus! It all sounded wrong so I told the guy I googled this nr and reviews said he's scam. He kept making excuses, which convinced me it was a SCAM. Fortunately, I gave him no information, told him I'd report him and contacted Apple. Please, do NOT call that nr when the pop up appears on your screen/iPhone. Report it instead.
This is the phone number given in a phony virus warning message on my ipad which claimed to be from Apple Computer.
A friend of mine is a new iPhone user and he just got a pop up on his phone while using the Google browser to call this number to get rid of the pop ups and that they are Apple. He actually called the number and said some guy with an Indian accent answered asking him for his password telling him that he's from Apple. He hung up and just told me about it. I deleted his Google web browser app and told him to use Safari. I noticed that it is much easier for these scam artists to hack through and do these crazy things when you install and use a web browser other than Safari. Beware! They are SCAMMERS! They should be reported immediately.
