I called Canon re a printer issue. They suggested I talk to their support staff and transferred my call. Middle east accent answered and said they needed to access my IMac to see what the issue was. Then told me I had many, many “foreign” documents in my files and I needed them removed right away. This was the beginning of a TWO day nightmare. Of course their fees for doing all this cleanup and restoration of my printer access was brought up. $699.98 which included an additional 5 years of service... Wanted an online check. My acct. is limited to $300.00 per withdrawel. Then wanted the rest in i-Tunes cards!! That caused a red flag to go up for me. It turns out the number I called for Canon from the internet was not the actual Canon Printer Co. I but the info was close and I didn’t catch it. It seems it was a way to get callers needing support to call and transferred to these people to be scammed. Spyware was loaded onto my Mac.
