Robocalls: Government Scam Calls

Robocalls that pose to be legitimate government agencies but are in reality scams are labeled as "government scams". There are various types of government scams, with the IRS being impersonated being the most common. This is where a robocall is made pretending to be an IRS employee trying to trick you into believing that you committed tax fraud or owe the IRS taxes. Oftentimes, these scams can be very convincing, as they will have access to your personal information about you, such as your address and even your social security number. Other common government agencies that are used in these calls are the Social Security Administration, Medicare, or local law enforcement. All of these government scam robocalls are illegal, and you should never wire anyone money based off of threats made in a phone call. The best practice to avoid getting scammed is to call the government agency the caller is claiming to be apart of, and asking them to confirm you are truly talking to one of their employees. You can also ask them if they are needing you to pay tax or answer questions related to a crime the caller is talking about. If the real government agency says you are talking to a scammer, you should hang up and block the number.

Ive been getting calls from this number for the last two days. I haven't answered because figured it was a Scam. My 2 cents is this. I started getting these calls 12 hrs after using text confirmation to reset my gmail password. I knew immediately that google was their source for my info/number when I got the first call. I I'm deleting every google account I have..... Well, I'll probably only think about doing it for now but I need to start the process of working away from G. The way I figure is that only a scammer would sell me out to another scammer.

This is SCAM they are very good. When you call number its say AT&T they are NOT AT&T. Call 611 from your phone or go to a store. They will confirm. They tried to get me today by saying my service would be out tomorrow and they would credit me $30.00 I had to verify the text they would send. I said nothing. They called me 9 times today.

18003310500 called as AT&T. Another scammer. Didn't answer, person left a message. Wow! 1800 numbers now? Who should we trust now? Don't even want to renew our phones. Better without one. Loser hackers! Get a real job instead of harassing others.

I got a call from this number and he told me he was with Verizon. He said he was conducting a survey and i would recieve $20 off my next bill. He said he first needed to verify some information before we began.
First thing you should always know.... Verizon or ATT would never ever give you any kind of credit!

This caller said he was with AT&T . He said he was completing a security test that they perform once a year. I told him I've had AT&T for ten years and never have I got a security call. He told me to give him the info he needed and no one will ever call me again. I blocked this number and he called back within seconds with an unknown number. He then sent me a text message for me to respond with a temp pin that he made up to complete the account change and a phone number 800-331-0500 if I didn't request a change. ASAP!

Recorded msg. left to dial 611 which is Verizon customer service but the 800. 330. 0500 is an . AT&T #. Definitely SCAM! I am on the do not call list and receive several calls per day.

Called after 8pm with a robo message from ATT stating that my phone wouldn't work and that I must go to an ATT store to upgrade my phone to LG 3 and or 4. Not sure if this message was a scam or legit.

This number has called me dozens of times, practically every day lately. I added the number to my auto-reject list so I no longer have to be bothered with the phone ringing needlessly. Whoever it is, they never leave a voicemail.

This is legitimately AT&T calling. Earlier tonight I had been chatting online with tech support and got disconnected. AT&T has been blowing up my phone ever since. They've called me 3 times and I've spoken to 3 different people. The most recent call was at 10pm, so I had to politely ask them to stop calling. (I already have an appointment for a technician to come over tomorrow.)

If anyone has been scammed via this number, someone has somehow spoofed another number to look like it's coming from AT&T or something else is going on.

Best thing to do, if you feel you're getting a spam call from this number, is to give no info except to tell them you will have to call them back, hang up, then call AT&T customer service directly yourself.

This number called me. I thought it was att. After verifying myself I found out it was indeed a scam. They upgraded My phone to iPhones. And changed my family plan. They also ran my bill up on our of country phone calls. Do not talk to them. Hang up asap
