I called the number they left and they said they were "Discover" and promptly asked for my Social Security Number and when I wouldn't give them that, they asked for my 16 digit account number. I refused saying that this number did not match the number on the back of my card. He said to call that number and I would be transferred back to him. I called Discover and they confirmed that is NOT a valid number for them and no record of trying to reach me.
I have received 26 calls from this number in the last 6 days, with at least 2 voicemails indicating they're with Discover. I have not answered nor returned any calls.
This is not a Discover number!!! The message they leave sounds super legitimate encouraging you to call the number back or visit discover.com. If you do call the number the recording sounds identical to when you call the customer service number on your card, with the only difference being the scammers ask for the last 4 of your account number not the last 4 of your social like the real discover does. Discover has assured me they will never ask for any part of your account number! Be super carefull!!
Haven't answered this call. Don't seem legit. Says it's a federal complaint number.
