They called saying they needed to check references for my roommate and to call them back with a reference ID they gave. I called back and the recording said to call back during business hours (even though I was calling back during business hours). I then looked this up. Lame.
This caller phoned 4 times in 8 minutes. I did not answer, nor will I call back. Looking up information I found the same so called company General Revenue. Reading comments definitely is a plus, finding out they are scammers pretending to be a Fortune 500 company that collects on defaulted student loans. Always look up the number first then let others know, don't call them. If you ever put your number anywhere online it has been sold and sold again many times over. Purchasers are usually scammers, I used to use an old number I had, now I don't put a number. If it is required I just don't join that site.
It's a scam. This company changes their names and phone numbers often. They leave a recorded message at the weirdest times. Don't say who they are looking for. I know I have no student loans and have never ever been in any debt. This is going to be reported. These scam artists need to pay for making an nuance of themselves.
I picked up the phone and they said "this call is being recorded. Can I speak to (my first name)." I said, not if you're going to record this call. She said "I'll call back." I have no outstanding student loans (as mentioned in a post below) and no debt that should be in collection. I told her not to bother calling back if she was going to always record the call. I can't believe they expect people to fork over information while being recorded to someone who won't even identify themselves. They did not give me a number to call back.
I found their name: General Revenue Corp 18003478209
.....Very Rude individuals.. all of them....mention to them that they have breach a systems and/or lawyers and they will attempt to remove your number from their system.. just a solution for every one. Hope it works.

They are a collection agency that is trying to collect on a faulty student loan. they called my house looking for my looser dead beat neighbor.
