I just received a call from a Windows Tech scammer. Phone Id showed (unavailable 1). THIS IS A SCAM!!!!
He said his name was Alex Cooper.
His employee Id was #VPS1985.
He had an Indian accent.
He said that Windows was getting Security alerts from my computer because I was a registered Windows user. He was calling to help me out with all my security issues. He asked me to hit the windows symbol and R at the same time and it would pull up a run box. He then asked me to type MSCONFIG in the run box and it would pull up all the programs. He informed me that over 50% of my Microsoft programs had a status of "Stopped" and he would help me get those running correctly.
I questioned who he was and he told me to call 1-800-347-9066 to verify with his supervisor. I told him I could make up all that information and pretend I was someone also. He became frustrated with me and said he would hang up....he was just calling me to help ME out with my Windows issues. I told him I would call them back and hung up.....I never called back!
I hope this helps.
