If you try to call what you think is a legitimate business number (mine was the Midnight Mission in downtown Los Angeles) and someone with a heavy Indian accent, a bad phone connection, with a prepared script, and asking for your credit card, hang up. I don't know how they do it but your call has been high-jacked by a boiler room operation in India.
I tried to call Priceline to get a refund on a hotel room. Because the hotel was horrible, broken everything, hookers outside, I was harrassed. I called the Priceline number, and had a crazy experience with speaking with an Indian man. So I cancelled my card asap, then shortly I was charge with a $4.95 "Pro Life" thing. My card wasn't working and I was out of town, so I didn't get a new card until 2 days later.
I called the Small Business Association about my loan. It was their number from their website. The same thing happened to me. It is scary because it was the SBA's actual number; they somehow intercepted the call and transferred me to Inda. All the same details. $49.5 charge, they said my card was declined. If anyone sees this please let me know if Google Fi is your provider. I feel like it must have something to do with my phone security or provider.
I just bought a Simplisafe security system and called them for tech support at the 800 number listed on their website. I was very careful to dial the correct number. Somehow I got and an Indian guy that requested and recorded all kinds of information including my credit card number. The situation didn't seem right to me with lots of noise and people talking in the background but I didn't know what to expect since I never called Simplisafe before. They gave me additional customer service numbers and a verification code. Later I checked and the 800 numbers had nothing to do with Simplisafe. Immediately after hanging up, I called to cancel my credit card but a $4.95 charge from PRH*PROHEALTHLIFELINE was already charged to my account so I closed the account. I called Simplisafe at a different number and the experience was entirely different with no noise and an American woman clearly speaking to me. She checked and said the 800 number I initially called was a legitimate Simplisafe number. Somehow my phone call got intercepted and rerouted. SCARY!!!

The same thing happened to my calling the SBA. Is Google Fi your phone carrier? I'm still trying to figure out how they transferred my call to India when I was calling the SBA?
I called honeywell home for tech support for my thermostat and these bastards said they needed my cc and address to confirm my identity. My gut red flag radar started going off and sure as hell, I hung up on them and immediately called my cc company. $4.95 charge. I cancelled the card, and called this company back to make sure I'm unsubscribed. They sent me some "supplements". WTH. This is absolute fraud.
