This is NOT a scam.
Although my rep had an accent, this was Comcast. As soon as we scheduled the appointment, I got a text from Comcast/Xfinity and she verifed the address.. not me. You can answer the phone.
THIS IS NOT A SCAM!
I got 2 calls today form this number. I checked my Comcast App on my phone and a message comes up with the same message. When you click on "More Info" they give you an option to call them at THE SAME NUMBER THAT LEFT THE VOICEMAIL. This is not a scam.
I just got 2 calls within 20 minutes of each other from 800-427-0106 and the VM said I needed to make an appointment but when I go on to my Xfinity help to check my connections it says everything looks good .... Hmmmm? Interesting....
Caller ID came up as Comcast Tech Support. Caller had a thick Indian accent and asked for the account owner by first name. When I said they weren’t available he said I was authorized on the account, yes? I said sure, I guess. Didn’t ask my name. He asked to schedule an appointment due to leakage in our area and that tech would need access to our home for up to 50 minutes. Having never heard of cable leakage (it is a thing, though) I was suspicious and stated I would call Comcast myself to verify. He was quite persistent about scheduling the appointment and I had to repeat myself several times. Finally he asked when they could call back to schedule. I said I’d schedule with Comcast customer service when I call.
Called Comcast cs from the 800 number in the phone book. CSR there verified they do want to check connections. Said the tech may have to come inside if fixing outside connections doesn’t resolve it. Scheduled appointment with csr.
Maybe Comcast is outsourcing scheduling appointments to an overseas call center? With all the scam calls coming from places like that I think it’s a bad move. Suspicious people like me are going to call their regular customer service anyway.
Yes anyone schedule an appointment and have to cops there at appointment time?
