Just got a call from a legitimate PSE&G call claiming they will disconnect my service due to lack of payment. Press 1 to speak to a representative.
I did so and when they asked how can they help, I flat out told them "You tell me what's wrong. You called ME!" They hung up and ran away. Just don't bother.
Scam Call Center posing as PSE&G. They call several times a day and sometimes will leave a pre-recorded message saying "PSE&G billing collections and my electric was being shut off"
I finally had to block the number on my phone
Incoming number that appears on the phone is the correct number for PSE&G unfortunately it's only a Scammer Call Center that falsely sends you the 1800-436-7734 "ANI" Automatic Number Identifier to your phone so you think it's actually PSE&G. When you press one you are transferred within the call center too a person who tries to grift you out of your money. No doubt they have no account information as a previous comment alluded to and will simply try to get you to authorize a money transfer from a credit card or worse yet your bank account.
On a side note these recordings are amateur at best. Unfortunately there are enough people who will fall for this and that's too bad.
FYI no Pubic Service Provider is authorized to turn off your Electric, Gas, Water or Phone without written notification sent to them in 90 days after delinquency.
I did not answer but called back and got "PSEG N.J."I hung up as I do not live in N.J.
called and said it was PSEG and they had a disconnect order with press a number to speak to someone - absolute scam - I have autopay and they would not call on cell phone -not the number on the PSEG account
