Like most others I've seen posted here, the caller (Kevin Smith, yeah right!) knew my name and location. Told me there was an issue with my computer saying that I had several reported issues with virus software/internet browsers.
I asked Kevin when these issues were reported? He said a month ago, to which I said that I hadn't used my computer in over a month. He quickly tried to back track, including talking over me. I asked him to tell me what kind of computer I had, and all he said, "You have a Windows processor which I am calling about".
I ultimately said I would strongly suggest he try and scam someone else and to remove my name from any and all lists.
This guy called me and told me that my Microsoft computer was running slow. He knew my name and my location. He told me that he needed to take control of my computer. When .o told him my father (who's a state police computer tech. And teaches computer software) was currently looking at it. He told me that it was Safe free and would be fast. I said No and he started arguing that it was gonna help...he didn't even tell me his name,
was funny MS wont call you and ask to take control of your pc I am a Tech and work in the field so when i started asking questions he couldnt answer i told him go try an scam someone else
Tells me that I have a problem with my computer and he needs to access it. I told him no and hung up. It's pathetic that they now call on cell phones.
