Just some info for you guys out there, a lot of debt collectors abuse the law severely because they work off of commission only so they will use "strong arm" tactics to scare people into paying money that either the person doesn't owe, falsified debts or debts that are past the statue of limitations. Also, these con artists will misrepresent themselves by giving you a fake name and title in order to scare people. There is no way at all period that they can take anyone to jail. There are companies out there that pay websites to get tons of information on people and then they say that you owe money to stuff that was already paid off but they lie and say something wasn't paid. Know your rights, stand up to these people and demand to speak directly to the owner of the company or the head manager. Then inform the owner or manager that you want their real name because you are reporting them to the FBI for violation of THE FEDERAL FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT. You can also sue them if they violate any of the things listed below. These people are not investigators they are some weasel sitting in a cubicle trying to make their commissions off of old debts or non existent debts. So know your rights. Educate yourselves and stand up to these pond scum low life frauds that are trying to make a commission by lying, deceiving and threatening people.
