To those of you who do not understand the function of collections it is to be as rude as possible so the consumer will get the idea. Most of if not all of you probably have some arrangement either forgotten or otherwise that you owe these people. If you paid your debt you wouldn't have people calling you, your name is on the list for a reason so stop crying about someone being rude to you and pay your debt you pathetic wastes of space. If you paid the debt on your legally binding contracts then no one would call you, your account would have never reached a collections agency.

Funny cause I got a calll from this EOCCA company and I don't have any debt. In fact I called AT&T since that is who this "collection agency" said sent me there, and AT&T said they have never sent any of my accounts to collections and all my accounts are and always have been in good standing. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to assume these people are low lifes not paying their debt and look into the fact that this collection agency is probably bogus.

idiot, they will call anything that they can tangentially associate with a person. i.e. a number associated with an old address, a very old number, etc. I owe nothing to anybody, I pay my bills on time every month. I get these calls all the time, I get my name taken off of the list and then they sell the case to the next jerk collector and guess what, then they start calling me. Know what you are talking about before you start insulting people.

Dorian - easy with the sanctimonious vitriol. I called these guys back to find out what I owed (thinking I must have forgotten about something, as you also suspected). When I hesitated to give out more personal information until they could explain who they were they hung up on me. Unfortunately I ran into financial trouble many years ago and I am all too familiar with how collections works. I paid all of my debts off and now have a credit score over 700.
Evidently you've been victimized by someone failing to pay their debts (translation: stealing) - I encourage you to forgive that person and move on. Bottling all that anger up inside you will eat you alive and rob you of your joy.
Peace be with you.

Dorian, these people are a fraud agency!!! They say they are debt collectors but funny they wanted $1100 out of me for a debt I don't even owe. So before you tell people to stop crying you should get your facts straight. Glad I didn't fall for these idiots and I reported them to the FTC.

Dorian... These people call from others we do not know. I pay ALL my bills on time so why are they calling my number for someone else???? Talking about a pathetic waste of space...obviously you must be talking about yourself. Unless you know what you are really talking about...SHUT UP!!!

So, Dorian Demarist, how long have you been working for them???

Wow what a jerk. Given the economy, many people have debts going to collections. I am sure you have friend and relatives who owe money. Calling peole pathetic wastes of space only tells us what a jerk you are, not that we are losers for having economical issues. So go screw yourself.

You silly b every body fall on hard times and who are you to say pay your bills. go bury your head in the sand because you are stupid

To Dorian Demarist. What you said isn't entirely true. We do pay our bills.....all of them. The bill they are calling us about is in dispute. And you and the people that work for these agencies are disgusting pukes. But thanks for your assinine input. Please restrict your comments to something you understand...like nothing.

When you buy a house that's in foreclosure, like I did and then find out that the owners had tons of debt...and then collections agents call you insisting you are Susan (the former owner) - that's wrong. I was harassed for a month until I documented each call on the FCC's do not call website. This was NOT my debt but the former owner of my home. The collections agencies found a phone number for the address and kept calling it. I also still get all of the former owners mail (past due bills) but the post office won't stop sending it no matter what I do...

Actually Dorian,
I have PERFECT credit... I have NEVER been late on a bill, nor have I neglected a bill of any sort. This company called me, actually did ask for me.. via a recorded message. I returned the call from my home phone and there was no legit reason for the call. So before you make assumptions or talk so ignorantly about people, think twice. Also, not to be redundant, but you should think what you say, at this rate you are the pathetic waste of space, as well as the reason we have such hateful people in this world

So, why are they calling me if it is my sister who they are looking for. I have no debt, yet they keep calling me. You're the AH for for thinking you are better than everyone. With Obama as president, it's no wonder we are all going to be in debt soon, you you probably voted for him!

Dorian - these retards keep calling me about a guy I don't know, and somehow they have got my address as well. They have sent a letter to this Clayton guy to MY address. Obviously I sent it back, but then they called my work phone. When I called them they were rude and hanged up on me.

I get calls from this company almost every single day, asking for my ex husband who has a habit of using our old phone number, still my house number, and they insist he is living with me. I owe nothing to anyone, as I am on social security because of a debilitating disease, over which the ex left me. So why should I have to fight with these people so often when I have given them his home phone and cell phone numbers. Why keep coming back to me? The debt was not even incurred while we were together, so I don't have to pay it like they tried to say I would. I understand the tactics, but why can't they believe someone who keeps giving the right number and address for the person over the course of a few months! I don't even have a credit card, never have, and with all this crap, I don't ever want to get one.

Dorian you obviously do not understand the function of collection agency. First of all people like you are the reason there are laws governing collection agencies. 2nd of all consumers are not obligated to pay collection agencies. The debt has been written off. Pathetic wastes of space like you buy accounts and hassell good people weather they owe the debt or not.
Since I use collection agencies I understand the process. However if I ever heard of any one at my debt collector agency talking to people the way you seem to I would fire them in a New York minute.
These people left four messages on my voice mail yesterday for some person named Gerard Esparosa whom I have no idea who it is and I have had my current phone number for seven years. I called 1-877-518-6509 back more than ten times in the past few hours and I have yet to talk to an actual human. Their message states that I have called them after business hours (8AM to 9PM MST) but I called between 10AM and 4PM MST. I left them messages to remove my number but as soon as I left my house, they called again.
I got a call from them too. They left a message on my answering machine. The message said that if I'm not the person they're calling, then dial [some number, it didn't sound coherent] to have my name removed from their call list. Then it said that if I continue to listen, then I acknowledge that I AM the person in question and that they are attempting to collect a debt. I didn't fall for it, so I deleted the message.
About a year ago, another collection agency tried to collect a debt from me that was owed by a former roommate. I don't know why they're bugging me about it, but they persist. My name is on the Wisconsin no-call list, but I'm not sure if it includes calls from collection agencies. Otherwise, I'll wait 'til they call again and try to get that no-call number from them and see if that works. If it doesn't, then I'll do the militant black lesbian routine. That usually works!
I just received a message from a number that showed up as unknown on my cell. The number they left was 866-800-9685 with and extension of 14812. I called back and was put on hold for a few minutes and then this guy Ken comes back on the line and starts asking me questions like the last 4 digits of my SS# and where I live. I told him that I had no idea who he was or where he was calling from and I wasn't giving him any info until he gave me some. It was EOCCA, whatever that means. Very rude and a waste of time. I have an acct with Dept of Ed that was turned over to them but have scheduled payments being taken from my checking account and he is calling to remind me that my payment if due soon. He looks at my acct and sees that my last payment was in fact on 11/25/09. I told him that I know when it is due and that it automatically comes out of my acct and that it has just been a few weeks since the last payment and I hung up on him!!! So the government pays people to harrass us about our debts? That is a bunch of bologna!!!

Melissa: I'm getting the same deal from somebody named Betsy at EOCCA. All I could get out of her was that the Dept of Education had some issue with me, and I'd have to give my last 4 to find out any more. Turned them down. Stay strong!
The phone number this company called me from is 866-239-9557. They left a recorded message on my answering machine and said it was an attempt to collect a debt. Identified themselves as EOCCA. I keep trying to call them back and get only ringing. I don't owe anyone money that I know of, and of course, this is making me wonder if I've forgotten to pay a bill, but I haven't received any notices in the mail.
