Shamefully, I called the number because it was listed as Hewlett Packard where I purchased a printer three months ago. It went crazy over the week-end and I looked up customer serice for HP Ink Services and this 1-800-474-6836 was listed. I called and the woman stated she was in India. She truly sounded honest and was telling about my printer issues matter of factly. However, I woke up this morning and found $151.26 bill. I called the number on the bank transaction, and of course I get a foreign sounding person telling me I printed 2109 pages in two months and that was they said they were customer service, I don't believe it. Trying to reach the true Hewlet Packard.
Received several calls in a 15 minute period said they needed access to my computer that there were scams and virus being put out across the web and they needed to install a Mal ware to protect my computer and the cost was $699.99 I said to them you do know you have contacted Scam report hot line they hung up. Do not take or answer any calls from this # they will rip you off.
This number was given to me from a tech support rep at HP that I called using a phone number I found at the HP website. The guy sounded like he was working from home, well ok. I could hear roosters in the background, non foreign voice, ok fine. He said to have a credit card ready because they would need it as collateral for when they send me a new printer. well, ok? I asked if he could process the printer replacement instead. He said his computer was having problems or updating. Well, ok? He said to just call this phone. I asked why call this different phone? He said cause its the real phone for HP and that I dialed the "general HP number"...ok? I called the next day and they answered right away! no ring no waiting which is unheard of. The lady was now foreign, eager to get my address and cc info and it didnt sound like she was really informed about my case so I hung up. It might have been legit but I dont know, didnt feel right. Shame these foreign tech support scams have damaged the customer service space. Now im stuck with a broken printer.
This fraud is also associated with Ransomware, and lock up your computer claiming to be HP support. They have hit me 3x in 30 days. To unlock just reboot your computer.
Spam- Caller ID identified caller as Hewlett Packard. I did not answer nor did they leave a message.
