Yeah this might not be a scam, it's true if you have a prepaid cell or other phone types they can't connect u to hear who's calling to ask if u will accept, so I guess u have to add a few bucks to see, but I'm not going to because I don't know anyone who got arrested, but makes me nervous maybe some distant person I know in trouble trying anyone they know, ALTHOUGH the 1st call I got from the number hung up fast, that's usually a sign of a computer system fishing for active phone numbers, so migyt be scam.

WHOEVER you are stop calling. I have already reported you to the phone company. We do not know criminals nor do we wish to. Was told a prison number that is used by many. Only wanted person that has previously harassed my family from such a Number is Shanon Baxter McClusky who is wanted by Tex and Wa. A person that has stolen from my husband Alan Nothing was said but like a prison sounding mess. When u call back says how to do some kind of payment.

My friend is in jail. they can only make collect calls. You have to set up an account to receive these calls on a cell phone. Not a scam at all.

It's a automated number from a jail system, mine happened to be from Leavenworth Co KS... turns out I have a friend who was arrested and calling from there. For some reason they think they can charge people outside to allow ones being held to get help. Where's that free phone call you're supposed to give, pigs?

Call went to voice mail. It was an automated message that said, “This is an important message from GTL about calls from an offender from a correctional facility. An offender attempted to make a collect call to this number but the call could not be completed due to billing restrictions. If you wish to receive these calls, you must contact our automated system for credit card deposits to a pre-paid account or other deposit instructions @ 1-800-483-8314 or go to www.connectnetwork.com and set up an account. If you have already done so, please disregard this message.” I do not know any offenders. This number has been blocked,

Received a call yesterday from 831-678-4203. Was with a client so I didn't answer. VM said it was Soledad Prison. I don't know where Soledad is & I am not aware of anyone I know currently being in prison. Today I got a call from 800-483-8314 while I was in a meeting. I think it's all a connected scam. How do I report this?

This number has called me twice, but it has been silent both times. A day before, however, I received a call from a different number (276-945-9269) claiming to be from a correctional facility in Virginia. Since I'm not American and know almost no one in the US (and certainly not in Virginia), I knew it had to be a scam, so I ended the call. Very suspicious that suddenly I'm being inundated by calls from 1-800-483-8314, hmm? I think the two are almost certainly connected.

I heard my phone ring, and it must've gone to VM. However, when I initially checked my cell phone, there was absolutely no number listed under "recent calls". However, I had a VM ...strange. When I listened to VM it was an auto message. Part of it was cut-off, but what I could hear stated it was from an Auto Credit Prepaid or something like that. It said to hit certain prompts, and to call this number (1-800-483-8314). It also gave a website: www.connectnetwork.com (I believe). However, as I already know it's some kind of scam, I won't even go to that link, as it may have viruses as well. So Googled out of curiosity & see this has been around for quite some time. Therefore, I'm reporting it as well. Obviously I won't call back, nor should you. Be cautious about going to websites by scammers for the reason I mentioned.

I just posted to Craigslist too & hadn't done so in quite a while.
I set a new account via e-mail but checked "no replies to this email" & left a different phone number...
From the "offender at a correctional facility", yes as everyone else describes.

When I answered, there was an automated message saying an inmate is making a pre paid call to "me". What's super freaky is that the message played back my name in my voice (!) which was lifted from my voicemail greeting I had years ago.

The recording referred me to this 800 number.

Original number that called me: 612-235-4374.
