I know this is old, but in case you or anyone else is still wondering:
It's a computer modem, not a fax line. The calls were most likely placed by a Brinks/ADT alarm system, to connect to the upload/download server (also known as Vivaldi) for programming. If your system still has service, call ADT if it's causing problems. If it doesn't have service, you can program your system yourself and disable communications, using my software: https://github.com/flarn2006/BHSTools.

I have been charged for calling 800-495-3555 and I haven't done these calls. I tried to call the number now and find out anything, but it's a fax line. WTF?
