hertz scam

Call came in today from the same number 1-800-552-8482 telling that they have a legal action on me and need to respond immediately otherwise action will be take against me. They left a reference # to enter when I call. I asked them to identify themselves but they refused. After goggling the number I got to this web. I am not calling them after learning from this web.

Call came in from (405) 232-3900 they left message to call back on another # (800) 552-8482. Gave a reference # to give when I call back. Not!!! It's a scam, from what I'm reading it's Hertz and I haven't rented from them so not calling back.

They called on my landline and then called today on my cell phone saying a rental vehicle was not returned so I searched who it was. They are listed as Private numbers in every phone lookup forum I tried without having to pay or download something. They said they were a "vehicle control dept." and I had to call them back at 1-800-552-8482 with this ref. number: 378076392 to avoid legal action. I have not rented a car from them so do not know why they would be calling unless someone is using my name.

I've received a numerous amount of calls from these people. I would say maybe 7 or 8 times total in a few months. I've talked to reps on a few of those occasions and calmly explained that I do not have a rental car nor did I ever rent one from hertz. They say they remove my number but I still get calls. Next time I wont be explaining anything "calmly".

I received a call. Called back. It is Hertz Vehicle Control. Put on hold and cut off the first time. The second time, the rep was helpful. My phone number was put on someone else's rental agreement (which was still open). She was able to help me.

I returned call this number five (5) times but no response.

I too have received numerous calls from Hertz vehicle control dept., message indicates I haven't returned a rental. I called Hertz customer service directly and gave them that reference no. Hertz said that no. was not under my name and said not to worry about it. the next day I got 2 called in the morning.

Received voice mail about not returning rental car we are still using as result of an accident and agreement with GEICO. Called back, put on hold for lengthy time and then hung up on.

Received two phone calls. Was asked to call back with.
Called back today, on January 3, 2014. Was waiting for 25 minutes, nobody answer. Would love to say something nice to those people, who keeps others busy with no reason!

Received a call saying a rental car was not returned, and to call with a reference number. Called once day for a couple days now, which an unknown number, so I cannot call them directly back. I have to call the number they gave me, which puts me on hold for a representative for around 10 minutes, then hangs up.

Caller said a rented car was not returned on 12/13. We never rented a car from Hertz. Wanted us to call back and give reference number
