Collar is pretending to be Hewlett-Packard computer customer support it is a scam they will put a lock on your computer and make you pay to remove the lock

Claims to be HP - had information that made me uncomfortable - HP site claims they don't call in this manner. Not the first time these bozos called. Blocked.

Scam. Rip of artists with strong Indian accent. I wonder how they collect their telephone numbers to call. The number they called me I only gave to legitimate HP tech support over a year ago. It look like the tel #s were leaked from real HP. Scary.

In the past 2 weeks i've gotten called about 5 times from them. I'm not sure how but they do know my serial number and they know when I got my laptop? That made it just a bit more convincing for me, but the fact that I know HP won't make unsolicited calls, and the fact they keep calling me from work is what kept me from doing anything. I did catch the guy saying that all he needs from me once I get home is to turn on my laptop, pay, and then we can talk. I asked him to repeat that and he changed his tune to say to turn on my laptop, and then he'll help me fix my issue. We all know what you want, don't lie.
