Caller hangs up after you answer the phone

Caller: Bank of America

They call everyday on my cell, sometimes I answer they often mispronounce my name and want my ss#, but won't really tell me who they are, I usually hang up on them. Concerning though because I have a loan with BOA. If this is legit why not give professional information instead of these robo calls and mispronounced names. My vote Scam

Well many banks have forigners taking and making calls so thats probably the case. However, if you do no want them to call your cell phone or any other specific number you can call the bank and ask them to place it in the do not call list and they will no longer contact you on your cell.

I've been getting calls from this number for months, quite often several times a day. The caller ID indicates the calls are coming from Loan Counseling. Sometimes when I answer the call, there is no one on the other end of the line. The other night I actually got a live person who obviously was calling from India. He didn't readily identify himself or where he was calling but finally said he was calling from BofA. When I asked him what he was calling me for he said he couldn't give me any information until I gave him the last four digits of my ss#. I refused to do so because I wasn't convinced he was calling from BofA. He told me I could call back the 800 number to confirm the authenticity of the call. I asked for a supervisor, who did get on the phone, but who also told me the same thing. When I called the number this is the message I got: "Hi, this is Crystal. Leave me a message and I'll call you back."

When you call the bank most of the time they do not have voicmails, and if they do it will be very specific as to who they are. Either way, call your bank directly and they will direct you in the right direction if you want to speak to a loan counselor

This number calls us several times a day. When I answer the phone, I get a recorded message "please hold". These calls began when we refinanced our home loan with BofA.

We have recieved calls from "Loan Counciling" for about 6 months. We are at our wits end. They are trying to collect a debt... We have no Mortgage or loans with BOA. Never would. We are tired of the harrasing calls. When I try and stop them the call back or do not remove us from the list. We are tired of it. The name of the Supervisor we spoke to was Allen Elok from Mumabai India... Don't know if the spelling is correct for the City in India. But Allen spelled his last name.
They will not stop Help! I have to get an attorney because it is just pure harrassment now.

I work retail. Bank America phoned the store 5x today alone. Every day similiar harassment. The person the bank is phoning will not be in for 2 weeks. I tell them this and again they phone. The lady said they have the right to continue phoning as the employee gave them this number. Bank America's harrassing calls have cut off our customers and hurt sales.

Im not sure how a call from BofA would hurt sales or affect customers but either way, yes they will keep calling for that person. Have your employee call them and put your number on the do not call list or you can also try saying that person no longer works there.

Invariably some no-name defender of BofA/Countrywide's constant calls will read comments such as mine and submit a non-disguisable comment revealing the defender's background. Until then, let's see: The 1-800-669-0102 calls are billed to BofA/Countrywide at local rates instead of as long-distance calls. If Stacy calls from the U.S., then it's a 2c/min rate. If a person or robocaller in India calls, then it's something like a 1 rupee/min rate. Stacy and the Indian call centers will continue to call persons non-stop, as others continue to report here and at 800notes.com and at whocallsme.com and at whocalled.us. These calls may or may NOT be returned. Simple mathematics tells us that the aggressive 25 calls/week average will be costing BofA/Countrywide a mere 50cents or 25rupees per week. This comes out to $2 or 100 rupees per month, and then $24 or 1200 rupees per year, albeit still a trivial amount. On the other hand, multiply this yearly figure by the number of persons targeted by these calls, then add possible additional costs (legal?) levied against BofA/Countrywide, and eventually the constant [non-returned] calls from this 1-800 number will slowly start to cost BofA/Countrywide a SIGNIFICANT amount of change.

To that no-name defender responding to the comments here, go ahead and feed these figures back to your BofA/Countrywide bosses before you or they spin these away :)

This number calls my home and asks for a totally different person. They have called three times and I keep telling them that they have the wrong number. This is very annoying--they will not stop..

This is a reminder/repost of a possible solution to end the annoying calls. It was originally posted a while back.

"Maybe this information will help someone save an ENTIRE DAY trying to get their name/number off the dreaded BoA badger list. If you are receiving erroneous collection calls on a mortgage you don't have, CALL 1 (800) 669-6607 , NOT the number they call from. That number just routes you to clueless collectors in call centers all over the world who will promise you're off the list. When you call, if you don't have a loan or the ssn# of the unknown borrower, mumble audibly but unintelligibly during the automated prompts and be patient...they'll try over and over, but eventually you'll get a representative. If you say "no" or say nothing, Computer Cathy will tell you to call back when you have the information. Gibberish confuses her. Ask the representative to send your information to their main solicitation or contact group - called the CAMPAIGN Department. That should "stop the majority of calls immediately." I was told all calls would cease by the end of the month, and today is the 12th. Write down who you spoke to, when, and what they promised. If they don't deliver, call the corporate number 1 (704) 386-5681 and they will elevate your complaint to ... the queen, I guess? I was very polite but I did mention that I filed complaints with the Attorney Generals' offices in IL (my home state) and NC (their home state) and with the FCC, which I did. We'll see what happens.... "

THANK YOU- THE 800-669-6607 and 800-669-0102 numbers do not get you anywhere. I called corporate 704-386-5681 and they helped.

I got irritated when they call daily for an employee and would refuse to let me speak to their supervisor to remove the number. They were very rude but hopefuly calls will stop.

Caller/operator reported that I had not paid my mortgage (which is current and paid on time 2x monthly). Called every 1/2 hour to 15 minutes for 1 month straight. Have owned this home for 1 year and this number has harassed us every month since. Increased frequency of calls since September 2010.
The company spokesperson, Anne today, reported to her manager, Zule, that she would removed our home phone number from the databank within 24hours. I will have to wait to see if this removal actually occurred.

This number is an old Countrywide number based in California. (now Bank of America)
It seems that they are trying to make things look like they are doing good in the eyes of the government? (or the people) They are fraudulent by doing this., just to say they did it to cover their tracks for something else.

I've received several calls from this number for the past several days. The calls are from various individuals and each has indicated that they are calling on behalf of Bank of American Home Modification department. I am currently, under review for a loan therefore I thought the calls were legitmate. The most disturbing aspect of the call was that they had my personal information. They also informed me that my loan modification was rejected and that I would not be able to remain in my home unless I made a payment to them for $5,000. I my husband advised me to contact the number I had for BAC and they indicated that my loan modification is still under reveiw.

Bank of American calling re delenquent payment. I do not have a BofA loan - my house is paid for. These calls started months ago - I asked them to stop but they continue several times a day. I now screen my calls.

This company calls 1-3 times a day for some one that does not live here.

This number calls repeatedly throughout the day. Today, so far, i had counted 7 calls. Caller ID shows that it is Loan Counseling. When I have answered, there is a long pause and someone (usually with India accent) will come on the line and identify themselves as a loan rep for B of A. They then ask if we are planning to make our mortgage payment for the month. I think this is serious harassment.
