Left message. Sounded like person from India. Wanted granddaughter to call regarding her account at Community bank. She has no account at this bank
Scam caller about bank account-Community bank
Called in afternoon. Very thick accent and I could not understand most of message but the gist is asking me for money to pay my "debt" by 6pm.
Caller: Comenity Bank
Called me at 7:16am. Such a thick accent, all I could tell was that it was a male, and I could only make out the words "1,876" and then "Visa or Mastercard". In response (and still half asleep), I said, "Ok, can you repeat that?" Again, garbled and heavily accented, all I could make out was, "When would you like to pay this debt?"
My response was, "Well, in the US it is illegal for collectors to call before 8am; so I will probably just pay it when hell freezes over because I don't deal with scammers!" and hung up on him.
By the way, I am completely DEBT FREE. I have NO outstanding bills, no outstanding balances on my cards. For all of these reasons, plus the call before 8am, has red flags all over it--SCAMMER.
