They told me they were Bank of America
Caller "John" left a voicemail asking whether we're satisfied with current UPS service and to see if we had any additional UPS needs around the busy holiday season. I returned the call. THIS IS A VALID UPS number. It brings you to the standard UPS voice system greeting. It is NOT SPAM.
! received a call from this number--1-800-742-5877--4:41 p.m. today. Above the number (on my telephone's Caller ID screen--appeared the words "U S GOVERNMENT." I immediately thought that the call was from the VA (or even the IRS!), so I answered it. A man (with something that sounded like a Middle Eastern accent that was hard to understand) began to talk about "a survey form" that I had recently submitted in response to an e-mail I'd received from an address that looked like something UPS would use.
AS you might suspect, my guard immediately went up and as I began to ask him questions, he told me that he had to take another call and that he'd call back.
Be on guard if this number shows up on your Caller ID!
