Got Postcard in mail and saw SmartEnergy on return address on Wacker drive in Chicago. Addressed to my wife who is NOT on the account. So now they seem to just send to anyone at the address. Was getting calls and blocked them so now they use USPS. Needless to say, I did not call the 800 number.

I also got a card saying the same: $50.00 cash back bonus and entering you may win Free Electricity For A Year! plus the Entry Code.
I am not young but I know how to use my computer to find out the information regarding the toll-free number 1-800-782-7274 given on the card and am able to reach this page. Thank you, the kind people who warned everybody about this scam.

Thanks for the info, got the same card yesterday and knew something was up due to the card saying it was from Prize Committee in NYC.

Got the same card here in PA. The address on the card, 575 Lexington Ave, 4th Floor, is a virtual office. You can rent this address for $75 a month. Such a complete sham company.

Yes, they sent me a card exactly same as the above 2 gentlemen's description. I wrote a letter to ComEd asking for if the know about this and intervene in our behalf.

Thank you for the information. I got a card in the mail with the same information. Tried to call the number and got the same ring, music and call back information. No that I know what it is, I'm not even going to bother anymore. I just wonder if reporting it to PPL if they can stop them.

I also got a postcard saying that PECO customers are eligible for $50.00 cash back bonus, a possibility of 10% off my electric bill every month, and entered into a sweepstakes for free electricity for a year. Of course it seemed too good to be true, so I was going to just throw the postcard into the recycle bin......but then I thought that I would call (number listed is 1-800-782-7274) and ask for some info. I got a person, but he was cagey when I refused to give the entry code they had listed on my postcard, and instead said that I wanted some info on who they were. He kept insisting that he could give me information if I gave him that code......but I did not trust that giving that code wouldn't just switch me to another electricity provider. After peeling off layers like an onion, the guy finally did inadvertently admit that entering this sweepstakes would switch my provider.......which is what I suspected all along. They make this seem like it is just a sweepstakes that you have the chance to win. Nowhere on the card does it say that it is from SmartEnergy (I looked this sweepstakes online, and it is from them)......the return address lists Prize Committee SmartSweepstakes.com, with a return address in NYC. This is so sneaky and underhanded, and could trick many innocent people like the elderly, or anyone without access to a computer to do research......which is what they are hoping for. I'm going to see if I can get my local company to stop sharing my information......who needs this sort of bs!

I received a post card in the mail yesterday (5/18/15) with the phone # of 1-800-782-7274 on it. It mentioned, "Duke customer are eligible for a $50 Cash Back Bonus. Plus, by entering you may win Free Electricity For A Year!" I was sceptical because the return address isn't from Duke (my electric company). The return address is Prize Committe SmartSweepstakes.com 575 Lexington Ave., 4th Floor New York, NY 10022. I called the 800 # to request to stop getting these mailings/any communications from them & it rang once or twice & hold music played. Shortly after that a message came on saying the average hold time was 2 minutes but that I could have them call me back & I wouldn't lose my place in line. They detected the phone # I was calling from & said I'd get a call back. I never got a call back. Went online to contact them to stop getting their communications a few minutes ago & there's no way to contact them, only a way to enter my Entry Code. I'm going to dig more in to this & see how to stop these postcards, but wanted to pass this along.

Ok well let me tell you about this number. You get a card in the mail, it says "Dear (PECO) customer you could win free energy for a year and a $50 bonus! Please call (800) 782-7274. Now I live with my elderly father, and of course he's not wise to these fishing schemes so he was excited and showed the card to me and I called the number, well first you hear a normal ring a few times and then you get an odd sounding ring, it picks up and then you hear music and a message that says "Thanks for calling, your wait time is 2 minutes." REALLY?! Doing a little research I found out that this is not OUR energy company, but a company called SmartEnergy that is trying to switch your energy service. Be careful, especially if you have elderly parents I bet these rats will try and take advantage.
