This place called me several minutes ago using an automated device. I choose the option to speak with their people because the name spoken by the device sounded familiar. Upon reaching a representative, I asked them multiple questions: Q) What company are you, A) "Professional Placement Services". Q) What is your line of business, A) "Client Services". Clearly this was an intentionally vague and inaccurate answer, so I questioned further. Q) Why do you have me on an automated dialer? A) "This was the number given to us to contact [name]." I knew they were now lying, because the person in question has not seen me since 1993 and there is no way they would give my number as a contact point. I asked to speak with a supervisor. I asked the same "what company" and "line of business" questions and got the same answers. I then asked Q) If you're a placement service, why would you call a number that has absolutely no connection with them - and is impossible for them to have given you? A) "We were given this number." Q) By whom? A) "By the client." Q) And who is the client? A) (ignored the question) "Do you want us to remove this number?" Q) "If you hadn't added me to an automated dialing system, you wouldn't have to remove me now. Would you?" A) "We haven't added you to any automated system." My final comment: "Then how come an automated dialer called? This is going to be reported." Their final comment: "Have a nice day." and hung up.
