They claim they are Wells Fargo asking for credit card consolidation payment and wanted my card number when they called me, then said they could look me up with my social security number

Said they where with Wells Fargo, looking for my mothers phone number. Asked if I wanted to be taken off the call list. Don't know if it is a legit thing or not?
asked me confidential info and said they have info to give me but w/o me telling them my info they could not help me. refused to give me their employee number.
