I get called twice a day. No sound. Nothing. Calls occur in the afternoon between 2:00 and 4:00 Eastern Time. I hate them. I scramble for my phone in the car like a jerk, thinking it's an emergency, because only family knows my cell.

We are receiving calls from this number several times a day, no message is ever left when we are not home and the times we have picked it up no one ever answers. I have called the number back and it states it is Chase Bank and they want the last four digits of my social, then my account number. I press "O" for operator and it does not accept that, then it asks for my full social security number. Now I'm pretty sure any bank is NOT going to do that. I'm pretty sure this is a scam. I am worried because I did enter the last four of my social just to see if it responded in any way.

They call me every morning at 8:30AM. Now, they also call in the evening and at night. The don't leave a message. If I answer the phone, which I don't do anymore, I've had someone ask for someone that is not me. I hung up. One other time, there is a pause and then a recorded message that says hold on..."a Chase representative will be with you...." I said I know this is a scam and hung up.

Okay, here is the latest.

I called CHASE at the 877-CHASEPC number and they deal with on-line banking issues. The gal I worked with was wonderful and the first CHASE representative to hear what I was saying. She investigated it issue as thoroughly as she could.

After contacting the Fraud Department she let me know that they could not explain the phone calls but had added our number to a CHASE Do-Not-Call list.

I was given the contact number for the CHASE Privacy Call Center if I needed to address this issue again in the future.

I got an SMS text from this number.

I've never seen it before and do not recognize the caller ID, therefore it is an unwanted call.

The individual using this number is doing so with malicious intent!

Anyone whom gets a TEXT-message or CALL from someone they don't know or never heard of, should immediately allow their security-application to blacklist it and then proceed to report the incident to the FBI.

You should never open attachments or respond to any requests from these types of sources. They're only spoofing you to get your information.

With the enormous increase of identity-theft on the rise, people should definitely be on alert and very scrupulous when receiving any calls or texts from a source they do not recognize.

(800) 848-9380 has been repeatedly calling our business. When the phone was answered the line went dead. When called back the pre-recorded message identified the call as from CHASE Bank and requested an account number or Social Security number [RED FLAG!].

I called CHASE Fraud Prevention Department @ 800-978-8664. They informed me that this number has NO connection with CHASE Bank. They will make a report but there is not a lot they can directly do to protect the individual – it’s up to you.

You are correct on that count! I too have been getting the same harassing scam calls here for the last several months. And the 1-800-848-9380 number is not the first one these scammers used either!

They happened to have used a different number earlier too: 614-422-4215. And possibly even a bunch of other different numbers as well: 800-555-0433, 410-774-8465, 402-220-4351, 877-226-5663, 402-220-4355, 847-488-3003. Each number has claimed to be Chase. Same recorded message!) ... All the same M.O. here!!!

This is something I uncovered in researching this numbr. Proof it actually is a scam that entails fraud, harassment and attempted identity theft:

That image on that page with the warning is about the notices. Notice the phone number on it... 1-800-848-9380! The same one I had mentioned that showed up on my caller ID! And here's what's on that warning page also, of key importance:

"Inside the envelope is a printed message in English and Spanish, purportedly from Chase Bank, asking the person to call a toll free number and be prepared to give an account number.

The Lakeview resident called the Chase Fraud Unit and confirmed that the card and envelope did not come from Chase, and the toll-free number does not belong to Chase." This is NOT Chase!!!

They call my work EVERY morning where I am the receptionist. As soon as i identify my company name they hang up. If I don't answer or pick up and hang up they call OVER AND OVER AND OVER until i pick up and identify my company name. This is harrassment!

I am 16 years old and i get a call from this number at least twice a day. They keep asking for some guy and I'm definately not that guy. They won't stop calliing either and I've already told them they had the wrong number. JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!
