Received a phone call from this number identifying selves at PENN Credit Corp a Collections Agency. Told me that I owe an amount (over $3,000) in Tax debt to the State of Maryland for TY 2012. They have on file a 2008 to 2010 address on me and yet found somehow my current number, but not my new address, I have never received a letter of indebtedness or tax burden from the State of Maryland, and yet out of the blue this phone call comes to inform me that the debt has gone into collection? I believe this to be extortion and a scam. But I have no recourse, this credit collection agency can place a derogatory remark on my Credit Report and thus forcibly lower my credit score which is 620 at best, it cannot suffer to be lowered. I feel I have legal recourse to Penn Credit for this attempted ruination of my financial standing.
