What are Government Scam Calls?

Spam calls or robocalls that are claiming to be from a government agency in order to obtain money or private information are called "government scams". The most common government scam call is where the caller pretends to be a tax collector from the IRS, in which they ask you to send money to a bank account in order to not be arrested. It is important to note that this is not the way the IRS gets money from people who owe taxes or from people who have committed tax fraud, so do not believe these callers. Other agencies that robocalls pose as are the FBI, police departments, the Social Security Administration, and others. When people make these calls and pose as government agencies, they are breaking the law and have poor intentions. The best way to ensure you are not getting scammed is to call the government agency the caller is claiming to be apart of directly, and ask them if you truly are wanted for tax fraud, a crime, etc. The real employee from the organization will be able to confirm if you are speaking to a scammer or not. If you are, you should hang up and block the caller from contacting you again.

I received a call from someone stating they are calling from Xfinity Tech support. They asked if my modem had been changed in the past couple of days. They asked if I was nearby the modem. I wasn't so they said when you get home..... I never said I wasn't. But they said to call back 1-800-934-6489 so they can set my modem to the correct security level. I googled this and Comcast doesn't call you unless you have contacted them about an issue. SCAM!!!!!!

The woman acted as though comcast now had a "maintenance package" that cost $99, and it had to be paid to get the signal sent when there's a stuck welcome screen. I might have believed her, had I not been through this process before. Comcast is now 1-800-Comcast.

I hit a pop up on my computer locking it up, looked like it was from Apple Security. Called number on pop up 1-800-934-6489 advised malware was on computer and tried to get credit card info to fix, hung up after that.

Took a minute and some weird clicks before an Indian voice came on the line, claiming they were from Comcast and trying all kinds of questions to be able to record my voice saying “yes” or “fine”

Yes, they did!! I'm calling the police right now. I have left this money hungry call center back in Sept. I paid my bill in full & now, they are saying that I owe over $200. There was another name Gina & on my bill & she was late with a $109 balance. The address was 75 commerce circle, which is Mc Donald's. They went as far as removed it. One of their techs came out & lied & then harassed me & refused to leave. I got the manager & she did not want to believe me. When, he saw her, he took off. She said, "I saw that. She also knows the trouble I was having trouble with this company. She tried to help & called their contact. I called him twice & he wouldn't even call back. You can threaten them with everything & they won't back down. This call center needs to see the inside of a prison cell. They are doing this state wide. Turning off people's service, for no reason & 3 days later, they didn't give a hoot. I was over an hour with them & to know avail. They were trying to make me pay for shipping or cab fair for the router or pay a 100 dollars. They hurt my health, with their constant bullying. The computer isn't a computer. Computer's do not type. I spoke to a Peta, Brenda, Ashley, Jason, Chris, in one night. Beware of this fraudulent call center. Get away from them. If you have an acct with Comcast GET RID OF IT!!! I just talked to the police, you should too!! This one was wonderful. He is taking a report against this company & some other things. Go ask for a police report & take action against this company. You want proof!!! How about two nightmarish years. If you do any social media, put this in an article or comment or post. They will harass you

This was shown on my phone as Comcast, person with an Indian accent and knew me by my name, he tried to get me to let him have access to my computer because he said I had a problem on my internet. I questioned him why and he got mad and hung up. Apparently these scammers are now spoofing the Comcast main phone number.

CID lists COMCAST C ABLE P so I knew it was BS. But they've called so insistently for the past week I finally answered and said bf anyone could speak. "REALLY?! 50 TIMES IN ONE WEEK? NO!" Its been quiet do far, since that call. Verizon is all over the place so I assumed it was Comcast but I know their name doesnt show on CID.

Caller ID said Comcast, caller identified himself by first and last name. He told me I was having a router problem and asked for access to my computer . When I told him no, he gave me a call back number and extension

Fabricated random numbers 1261 as my address and pumping for account numbers. Do not answer and block immediately. Fraudulent and ABUSIVE for privacy.

Yes, this is a fraudster, not Comcast. Indians or Pakistani scammers faking Comcast. They call 5-6 times per week, but their number is blocked. Nanny, Nanny, Booboo on these scumbags.

They called twice on 6/12/209. Human with Indian or Pakistani accent was phising for info mentioning error signals from my modem. I hung up on him. Phone ID displayed "COMCAST P"
