Keep calling me threating legal action for an unpaid debt. We did have a dispute with a financial institution, but that was 4yrs ago, with no further action taken by the financial institution. All of a sudden THESE jerks are calling. Leaving intimidating messages.

Would agree thse seem to be scammers. Claim to be Chapter Law. I don't have an outstanding acct with any company. Credit cards paid in full ea month. NOTE: To be legal, a COLLECTIONS agency, which this seems to be must
1, Send you written statement of the claim and in whose name the claim is made (e.g. VISA)
2. Provide the actual name of the person they seek to speak to (no name provided, it's a pfishing expedition)
3. Provide their full legal name, and correct mailing address.

If they are calling you for a debt you DO know, you are allowed to challenge this. Ask for details of the acct, and if it's wrong, advise them so. It's up to the company making the claim to give proper proof. Tell them you are prepared to take them to court to settle this, esp if the debt is more than 2 yrs old (too late for them to litigate you - see Limitations Act. Collections agencies can call no more than 4x a week. (Not everyday). Plus they must not call themselves a Law agency if there is not a Lawyer in good standing who owns the firm and provides actual legal services to someone (ie in court, not just nasty letters or calls to victims). If you are rec'ing calls more than 4x /wk, this is not a real law firm. They'd be disciplined by Law Society.
If it is a debt you DON'T owe, they can lose their lic to operate in Ont.for pestering you falsely. Send written notice by email or CDA Post telling this is not your debt (give no further information than that - disreputable firms will try to use it to harass you more), and direct them to stop or you will report them to the Ministry of Business and Consumer Affairs. If you get even one call after that, MAKE THAT COMPLAINT REPORT. Tell the MInistry you have given direction in writing stating this is not your debt and cease harassment.

Chapter Law, supposedly, trying to say action will be commenced against you because of unpaid debt. Complete scam.

Chapter Law calling about a so called GE loan debt! I have never taken a loan out in my life! If you search the address they give you will find it belongs to another law firm and not Chapter Law. If you check the building tenant directory you will find that Axess Law occupies the space and not Chapter Law.
