Be sure to VERIFY THE IDENTITY of person claiming to be with "Cardmember Services" or somehow related to your credit card or card company. Most likely they're just the same scammers as others have mentioned.

Your REAL credit card company will tell you precisely who they are and about what account they are calling. They will be VERY specific when asked, but - trust me - they would never call to offer lower rates.

The call claimed to be from card holder services and offered a reduction in my credit card interest rate if I pushed /#1. I pushed #1 to speak to a representative and as soon as I asked to be removed from the call list, the party hung up. This is the sixth such call that I have received in the past three weeks, each time with a different phone number but all with the same pre-recorded message. Attempting to redial the number simply puts one into a voicemail box that does not permit messages to be left.

This approach seems designed to evade the various do not call rules.
