Didn't answer, but called back the number. They answered "Discover" and proceeded to ask for account number and my phone no. I said I would call back the number on my Discover card and they insisted they were Discover Card. I called the valid Discover number and they had not called, nor did they need to call me.

I'm not sure how to undo this post, but I investigated further and found this IS a legit. number! It is the CMA Dept. for Discover and the people at customer service weren't even aware of it, nor the reason they were calling me. The number is for the autopayment section and they were calling to tell my my 1 year of autopayments was expiring and I needed to reschedule. Problem was the person in the CMA dept. asked for identifying info which I refused to give, since I thought they were scammers, and this lead to a VERY unpleasant conversation for both of us. Follow up with the Customer Service dept. and subsequent transfer to the CMA dept. through them let me reschedule and continue my autopayments.

It is used in conjunction with 800-347-3723 to try to get personal and financial information from the vicitm by posing as collection agency and fraud prevention numbers from Discover.
