The Texas Senior Medicare Patrol has received complaints about Medicare scam calls from 803-626-9637. The LIVE male caller identifies himself from “Medicare” and says that he’s calling to get the victim’s back brace issues straightened out, and that he wants the victim to send him the braces s/he received. The caller fully identified the victim’s name, Social Security number, date of birth, and supplemental insurance company. THIS IS A SCAM. MEDICARE WILL NEVER CALL YOU. Report these scams to the Federal Trade Commission (https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov) , Medicare Office of the Inspector General (https://oig.hhs.gov/fraud/report-fraud/index.asp) and your state's Senior Medicare Patrol (1-877-808-2468, or https://www.smpresource.org). DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR MEDICARE OR SOCIAL SECURITY IDS. Check your Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs). If you see that Medicare has been billed for something that neither you nor your doctor has ordered, report that information immediately to 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-632-4227), and your state's Senior Medicare Patrol (1-877-808-2468, or https://www.smpresource.org).
