I got the same phone call from Kenneth Matthews on Thanksgiving Day, and he directed me to call 941-900-0801. And two days later I got another call from Peter Schmitt, and directed me to call 352-458-5532.

I received the same pre-recorded calling stating they are the IRS and there is a warrant for my arrest. Call came on 2/5/2015 10:29am (PST). Just add me to the list of people they are calling. I've seen attempts from this number throughout the month of January, but just ignored them.

I got the same message everyone else has said they got. The way he says the phone number was my first clue that it was a scam. No one says 8044-613-428. Living in the 804 area code, though, made me a little concerned that it could be real. I am convinced that it isn't.

This guy left the following message on my phone:

"This is Officer Kenneth Matthews with the IRS Tax Auditing Dept of the IRS, Fraud Unit in Washington, DC. There is a potential fraud with your taxes and a warrant for your arrest. Please call me at 8044-613-428. This is time sensitive".

So I called. A guy answered saying, "hello". I asked, "is this Officer Kenneth Mathews?" He answered, "yes", then asked me my phone number and name. I provided that information. He repeated his message that was left on the phone. Then he said that "certified letters were sent to the home in July and August, and since no one was home to sign for them, a warrant has been issued for an arrest".

I became confused and frustrated because: 1) we are good with the IRS to my knowledge 2) his accent was very heavy and I told him that I was having a hard time understanding him 3) what he was saying was not making sense.

Furthermore, my husband and I got into a fight about it. I am disgusted by the amount of scammers and criminals out there who prey on trustworthy individuals, especially elderly folks.

Called by "Officer Kenneth Matthews" this morning. Left a message saying there was a potential tax fraud in my name and threatened a warrant for my arrest.

Received the same call - ignored message but reported specifics to the phishing/scam people at IRS.

Just remember to tell everyone you can about this tactic. Especially elderly people or less fortunate individuals who may be intimidated or otherwise tricked into sending money. That money will be gone forever, Tell your family and relatives as well.

"Officer Kenneth Matthews" called me this morning with the same script others listed below, talking with an Indian accent, wanting me to call him back at 8044-613-428. Caller ID just listed Out of Area so I couldn't block his number.

Same thing. What a complete jackass. He has nothing to do. Don't tell me your name is Kenneth Matthews when you sound like your name should be Punjabi Tandoor.

This call came in from a 970 area code....different from the one the other day from Tiffin OH.

This is obviously a scam. The IRS never calls, they send letters and there is a formal investigation and long legal process before they would make a claim of fraud. I have received this call twice and each time it is a different person with a foriegn accent. The first one was hispanic and hardly understandable and the second sounded Indian.

I received this call today at 0830hrs. EST but missed it, and called it back immediately and he answered with broken English, he was with the IRS. No name, so I proceeded to ask, "is our Gov't so broke, agents have to use there own cell phones to conduct business?" Not that they would be calling me at 8:30 anyway...But I had to ask has anyone really fallen for this? He's lazier than the guy sleeping in the median at a traffic light, who can't even muster the energy to hold the sign stating he's Ready, Able, and Willing to work for food. So I continued to redial his phone for the next 3 hours, (like I was trying to get concert tickets) when he finally answered, I asked who's this, and he replied, "you called me!" So I asked if I owed him any money, I would give him my bankcard over the phone to resolve this matter immediately. "This is the IRS right?" Right, he says, Nathan Cruz.

Been getting the same call at least once a week. Has to be a robo-call, my message is the same as all here.

Same thing. Sounded like more of an Irish/English accent. Here's what's on my voice mail.
"We have received a legal petition concerning a financial tax fraud under your name. So, before things get out of hand or before we proceed at the federal claims courthouse with a warrant for your arrest, I need you to call us back on 8044 613 428. I repeat, my name is officer Kenneth Matthews, from the diposer of the IRS at Washington DC. The number is 8044 613 428. This is a time sensitive matter, so call back immediately. Good-bye"

Received call from someone claiming to be with the IRS threatening legal action and that an arrest warrant would be issued. Indian accent - said his name was "Officer" Kenneth Matthews. Yeah, ok.
