Received a call from this phone number claiming to be from Nicor Gas. The name of the caller is Rachel Paul (probably a fake name). I was suspicious and decided to look up her phone number for authentication and sure enough found out that this number had seven other complaints from people who received a similar call (i.e., pretending to be Nicor Gas) and found out that they were Spam and Telemarketers. I tried calling the number back (with an extension number provided by this Rachel Paul) and it went into a voicemail asking for a phone number so they can call me back. Let's see if they will call back!

I got a call from someone who calls herself "Sarah" and, as with the others, she said she was calling regarding my Nicor Gas account and to call back and have my recent statement at hand. if you think about it, if she were from Nicor, she should be able to pull up a copy of my recent statement on the computer. She shouldn't need me to have it on my end. She's probably from one of these companies that will ask you to switch providers to, supposedly, save money. Supposedly what those companies do is legit, but they always let you believe that they're actually from Nicor or ComEd, but they're really not. It's kind of like if you have, say, AT&T as your regular telephone company and you have Sprint as your long distance provider. These companies buy up electricity or gas in bulk at a bulk rate and, supposedly, pass on the savings to the consumer and their name shows up on the bill from either Nicor or ComEd and your gas or your electricity is still delivered through Nicor or ComEd, but, somehow, you're paying this third-party provider, supposedly at a lower rate than you could get straight from Nicor or ComEd. The thing is, if they're legit, then why deceive the consumer into thinking they're ComEd or Nicor? Why not just be straight about it all and say they're from whatever company they actually represent and that they want to help save you money on your gas or electricity bill? In this case, Sarah didn't, actually say she is from Nicor, just that she is calling regarding my Nicor account, but she didn't say what company she does represent and, in so doing, gives the impression that she is from Nicor when, in actuality, she's not. It may not be a scam, but many of these companies have deceptive business tactics and will switch consumers to their company, many times, without the consumer realizing what has happened. What they do may not be illegal, but their methods, I would say, are unethical and deceptive.

Three or more calls in the last three days from these idiots. I just called Nicor, and they verified that they have just been receiving complaints and that it is NOT Nicor calling you. They said to block the calls or ignore them. Whatever you do, please don't give these people any information about yourself or your Nicor account. This is fraud. Caller names were Chad, Matt, and Mason. They all said it was urgent that we call back and to have out Nicor gas bill out when returning the call. Total scam.

Scammer - Stephanie called regarding Nicor. You call back and you get their answering service, They call themselves Customer Care. Evidently they have one person working and she goes down a list, Though they ask you to call back their one phone is tied up because they continue to work the list. Big waste of time deleting their BS message from your recorder and your money if you call these jerks back.

Block the caller.

It is a natural gas brokerage. The callers sound dim. They don’t know what they are trying to sell. Typical BS sales call.
