Lady with foreign accent called our business and said that she was calling to send out updated printer manuals & software. I found it odd that she never said her name or who she was with, she just said she wanted to "verify our address". I told her that we have a guy that takes care of that for us. Instead of telling me that she was calling directly from Canon, Xerox, etc., she just simply said "But I am calling directly from the printer manufacturer" (wow that pretty vague answer was super convincing!). So I asked which manufacturer and she replied HP (not Hewlett Packard). I told her that we have a mobile HP printer, but it's not used. She hung up on me.
Caller said they were updating manuals, and I told him he had wrong address, then he wanted to argue, and I explained we have another
company that handles our equipment. He then said, "YOU ARE SUCH A
B*TCH" and hung up on me. I called the number back but it just disconnects. I will continue to research to get this to end.
Girl explained that they had just updated their printer manuals and to double check our printer make and model for verification before sending out. I replied I'd check. After having her hold about 3 minutes (to waste their time) I returned and said "It's a Panasonic." She asked "which model?" I replied "42-DD - THE SAME AS MY GIRLFRIEND'S BRA SIZE!!" and promptly slammed the phone... lol.
Got called about our office printer and was told they would send us updated manuals in the mail in 5-10 days. I foolishly gave them our printer model and now sites like this are telling me this is a common scam to send you printer ink/toner you never ordered to then bill you for. If they call, just hang up on them, you can just get manuals off the internet. If you get an un-solicited delivery, don't sign or accept it and send it back with the delivery person.
Caller lied saying she was with our corporate office regarding our printers - asking for the model# so she could send a manual. I asked for her employee ID and she hung up
