I received a text on my iPhone this morning. Text stated that there was a suspicious charge to my Apple Pay in the amount of $143.95. I don't use Apple Pay for anything. I've never used it. This was the number I was given to call to straighten this out. It came in the form of a text message but was sent by an email address..etlalloz5joinerp@icloud.com. I assume a scam.
The individual identified themselves as a Google support representative. However, when I questioned them about a text message claiming that an Apple iCloud charge of $143.57 had been made, they stated that they were actually from Apple support. This was clearly a scam, especially since there had been no transfer, as the person claimed. When I pointed this out, they said I had been transferred to them, which was a lie. Eventually, the person disconnected the call.
