This woman called and said there had been a report against a Laura Bathirst and that there was a docket # and that my phone # was given as a contact #. She said she had papers that needed to be signed. She gave the # 844-209-4629 and said this was a final notice. I did not answer but let it go to the answering machine and I did not call and will not call because I am quite sure this is a scam.

844-209-4629 A woman called me first from a local phone number. She claimed her name was Investigator Morgan and that she had court papers for me and even had what she called a pretrial docket number. She told me to call the 844 number for further information. When I called the 844 number I spoke to a man who claimed to be John Robinson and his extension was 209. He claimed that I had fraudulent check claims against me from a known company that I had dealings with in the past. He said I owed $1,670.93. He asked about my income and work information and then, "put me on hold" for about 3 minutes claiming he was calling the company to make a payment arrangement for me. While I was on hold, there was dead silence, no music, nothing which I found to be suspecious. He came back on the line and offered me two choices to pay the money back. I could settle with a one time payment of $510 by giving him my debit card information. Or I could pay $417.73 a month for 4 months by providing my debit card number. My debit card happens to be missing right now so I could not give him the information. He said I could go out and buy a prepaid debit card and give him those numbers. He sarcasticly said I could get the money to pay for the card by looking in my couch for loose change. I don't even own a couch and certainly don't have any loose change hanging around. He gave me an hour to get back to him or he would reinstate the court action. I was scared to death so I went out and got a prepaid debit card and loaded $10 on it. I had to pay for it using my quarters I had for laundry. In total it cost me $12.95. I came back to my apartment and called him back but I got a different man who did not identify himself. I asked to speak with John Robinson at extension 209 and this man told me that Mr Robinson was on another line. He put me on hold for about 30 seconds and then came back on the line and said he would take my information and put it in the computer. I stupidly gave him the prepaid debit card number and he said thanks and we hung up. I later ran into a friend and he took the phone number information and went on his computer to look it up. He found it and it had been reported as a scam by others. I never got the name of this company so I did some searching of my own and found out that this number is coming from Peuto Rico but gave no name of the company. I called the 844 number late last night knowing they would be closed and hopeful that they would leave a message identifying the name of the company. I did get a message but it only said "we cannot take your call right now. Please leave a message and we will get back to you during regular business hours." I am grateful that I only lost out on the $12.95 I had paid for the debit card and you can be sure I will not reload it with any money at all, nor will I call them with my new debit card number when it arrives in the mail. I am all done being ripped off by these people whoever they are.
