This was legitimate. I received a call and voicemail about my card ending in **** wanting to verify charges. I called my credit union, they verified the charges and closed my card. I asked about this particular phone number that called me and she showed that they did call me.

Yes, they called me, too. My son had made purchases on his iPad that were flagged for some reason. It seemed like a legit call.

Not a scam. Call from my credit union.

This call was from my Credit Union security service provider saying there's been possible fraudulent activity on my debit card. I didn't call back at first but then checked my bank account and saw someone used my debit card number and spent $810.42 online. This was not authorized by me and I'm thankful I called them back. PLEASE take this call seriously. There or so many pieces of crap out there preying on the honest hard working citizens.

THIS A REAL CALL IT'S NOT A SCAM!
99.999999% of the time you don't even talk to anyone, they ask a couple questions about recent transactions on your debit card and you press 1 for yes and etc. They don't ask but for a couple 4 digit verifications and BOOM you're done.

STOP PANICKING PEOPLE!!! ;)

Should have answered...

This is a third party that does security for various credit unions. I did not answer the call but after reading comments here called my credit union and they said fraud was detected on my spouses debit card. For those who think this is a scam you should check your credit union account for fradulent activity!

NOT A SCAM. Called my credit union and they confirmed four fraud attempts had been made. The rep at my CU that I spoke with referred to their 'security center', so I am guessing it's one generic call center that handles all CU Visa transactions, thus the spammy sounding robocall.

Around 8:30 tonight I received an automated call from ?# (no caller ID) and they said they were calling form my credit union about potential fraud on the account. They had my first and last name and the last 4#s of my card. Sounded very suspicious so I just listened, wrote down the number they said to call and then hung up. I called my credit union. They are closed and none of the options offered included "fraud" so I hit the number to report a lost or stolen card. I was directed to the card servicer (Visa) and spoke with a young man who offered to check his notes to see if the fraud department of my credit union had attempted to reach me via phone.

Yes, indeed they had. The nice young man, thinking I have caller ID, gave me the number the 'scammer' called from: 1-888-918-731. He then transferred me to the fraud department and I spoke with Darien.

Darien asked about 3 transactions today with one company. Sure enough - I had attempted to pay this company (tried twice) and the payment would not go through. Darien said the first transaction was a zero ( 0 ) dollar "authorization" and the next two attempts were "declined." I didn't know about the "authorization" (zero dollars) but I DID try to pay, twice, and both times got a message saying I needed to check the information I entered for errors. I checked, no errors, so chalked up the experience to a lousy pay system.

Because two attempts WERE "declined," I know the information I input was correct and something is amiss with THEIR payment system. I will be meeting with them tomorrow and will bring the Word docx I made with screen shots showing my attempt to pay ... and in addition, I will have a story to tell them to top it off, :). BUT....

I agree with lots of posters: the automated call sounds like a scam..... very much so. I also agree with the poster who said to call the number on the back of your card..... IMO, always call the source.

Doublecheck with your Credit Union. This did come from a robocall and I figured it was a scam and hung up on it. But I contacted my Credit Union and there had just been an attempt to use my debit card in another state. So maybe don't call this company back but check directly with your card company or banking institution.

Sounds like a scam to me. The last four digits of the debit card they were calling about did not match any of our cards. Called twice today. There are no messages from my credit union via email or when I log on to my account.

The voicemail left by this number really did sound scammy. Even after seeing others comments about it being legitimate, I was still skeptical. Call your credit union and verify the number- they are a 3rd party fraud protection company.

Call sounds scammy but its legit. They were trying to rack up the charges on my debit card. Good thing I don't have any money in there or they might've gotten away with some big purchases. Call the number back immediately!

THIS IS NOT SPAM!!! If you have a bank account or a credit union account at all DO NOT BLOCK THIS NUMBER!!! I just received a call this morning from this number and it saved my credit union account from being emptied. The call is from a computer and does not give your credit union name, but IT IS A LEGIT NUMBER. It transfers you to a person later. Two fraudulent purchase were made from my account, and a new one was made while I was on the phone with the representative that he blocked. Anyone who blocks this number will regret it.
I get A LOT if spam calls even while being on the DNC registry. This is a number you do not want to block!

I received an automated call from this number claiming to be the fraud department for my credit union, verifying suspicious debit card activity. I called the credit union directly, and they said that this number is valid for their fraud department, and to call it to verify a purchase made with my card. This is a legit number, not a scammer

Called the number back and an automated message said they were checking on my recent purchases from my credit union (?) My credit union usually identifies themselves when leaving a message. SCAMMERS! They have called 4 times
