Clicked on a Facebook link - suddenly a large window opened on my computer telling me that it was locked and all of my data was at risk. Said to call Microsoft expert at this number. I called and someone who sounded like an Indian accent answered. He wanted me to give him access to my computer so he could 'fix it'. I refused. Then he said that the corned beef my wife was cooking smelled delicious and wanted to be invited for dinner. I refused again. Then he asked to borrow my hedge trimmer and I hung up on him.
Be wary of these scams and check before you overreact. I have to go now - I think he's at the door with a bottle of Reisling to have with dinner.

This also happened to me. It sounded odd when I called and the person on the other end of the line didn't sound like a professional from Microsoft. I wonder if this is some strange way to hack into your computer by getting all your information. I asked him for a link to his website where it listed the phone number I dialed and he hung up on me LOL. Glad I asked.

It's a bogus website and you get there if you click on a fake Facebook link in any browser. It takes you to a page that is htt://tfn3.in/. It is a phony and seemingly harmless page that locks up that particular page. It warns that your whole computer has been violated and gives a number for you to call for help, which they claim is a Microsoft number. I could access all other apps and other browser windows that were currently open and it did not shut down your computer or violate any files. It's like a kid's spoof, like the old prog that was sent to you by a friend saying it was a cup holder program, but when it installed your CD player would activate and the cd tray would pop open for you to place your cd onto. Ran Kaspersky and Malwarebytes, before rebooting and came clean. Word of advice, don't shut your comp down in a questionable situation as this as this executes the virus on bootup. Then you are in trouble. Run your antivirus and malware progs first. Eventually I was able to shut the locked up browser down. It's getting close to April Fool's isn't it? Here is what the page showed:

Googling the number, others complained that the phone number is associated with phishing. I was suspicious of it being a joke after neither Kaspersky nor Malwarebytes came up with anything. Just don't call the number..
