said they were IRS. The IRS does not call they mail
Another IRS Scam Caller. Do people really believe these jerks? Wish there was a way to trace them and have them arrested!
Spam call
This time it was Dennis Gray, but he was with the U.S. Treasury (Regarding an enforcement action) and not the IRS. That guy gets around. Strong Indian accent somewhat diminished by some electronic "robo-call" adjustment to the recording but it's still obvious to me. Said not responding to call would be seen as an intentional attempt to avoid an initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury. This time the toll free number was one digit off: 1-844-551-0578. This is a known hoax: https://www.treasury.gov/services/report-fwa/Pages/Report-Email-Scams.aspx
2016-07-07 - robocalled, saying there was a federal enforcement action pending against me. Never mentioned my name in the message. Called back and talked to someone with a strong Indian accent who identified himself as US Treasury officer Keith Black. I asked if he was with the US government, and he said he was. He asked for my first and last name. I did not provide that, but instead gave him the number they called and asked him to provide my name. They got the name right, but that could have been a Google search. The gentleman said there was an enforcement action pending against me related to federal tax returns. I put the phone on speaker, and again asked him to confirm he was with the U. S. government. He hung up.
