Okay everyone, they are a real, legitimate company that does bill collecting for American Express. I too have dealt with them. They were in charge of collecting my monthly payment after AmEx closed my account. At some point my debt exceeded the time period where non payment could be reported to a credit bureau. Therefore i decided to stop the payments that were being withdrawn from my bank account. Unfortunately no one answers 844-564-2178 when called. Even though AmEx themselves gave me this number. Eventually after calling this number for AmEx, 800-230-1284, and tapping 0 three times, did i reach a live person who could help me. They connected me with an agent at the Indian collection agency. After much talking they agreed to stop the monthly withdrawals. So the bottomline is they are real and working for AmEx. As far as the shady cold calling goes, it wouldn't surprise me for a bit.
My acccount with Amex was handed off to this company they said it was another part of the company. It’s probably just outsourced to save on efforts to collect older debts. May be contracted by Amex to get money off old debts. They also use (866) 205-4559 and email services1@aexp.com which aexp.com is listed on amex’s website of official email correspondence. At first I was weary but everything checks out for me.
This is NOT American Express. This is a Company from India that purchase bad debts. Your debt was "written off or charged off by American Express"! This company bought the debt for "pennies on the dollar"! Example your debt $4,000. They paid $400. or less for it. They use "spoof" telephone numbers to call people. They use all types of illegal tactics, including calling all folks with a similar name resulting in harrassment. They are relentless. You probably can't successfully sue them because they are not in America. They are posing as American Express, but they are NOT.
Just got a call from 844 564 2178. Asked to speak to my mom. Glad I realized she's a scammer before I gave her her number.
Indian guy claiming to be from american express named Sach called our business and asked for my boss and said it was a personal business matter. I informed him that he was calling a business and then he said that our number was listed as a contact number for him, then said it was listed as his work number. I hung up with him and two minutes later he called again and said that he hadn't just spoke with me even though he certainly had.
