I was called by this number about suspected fraud on my BOA card. 844-585-0488 is the fraud number listed in my mobile app. I answered the fraud question on my app.

This is a legit number. I had tried to use my credit card on a vending machine and got an automated fraud alert call from this number.

Went to BoA website, callled 'real' contact/fraud number - scam.

Note came to cell phone about credit card purchase. They had last four digits of my credit card and email address. I think they may have gotten this from a shirt purchase from a Chinese company.

It's a valid Bank of America fraud department number, though from other entries here it seems like scammers have spoofed this number in the past. The call I received was to verify that a transaction was valid, and it was. I even called BofA back on one of their main phone numbers afterwards to verify the prior call.

Be careful! They called me and asked my Driver Licence number and my BoA online ID. My cousin works in BoA for 3 years and he told me BoA representatives never ask for sensitive information like online ID or Driver Licence number. It was totally scam!

This IS a valid Bank of America Fraud Alert phone number.

I had a small transaction declined one evening, which I presumed was detected as possible fraud activity (which is was not).

The next morning THIS NUMBER (8445850488) called with an automated message. I didn't know THIS NUMBER (8445850488) so I didn't answer. Nor did I respond to the voicemail it left (about being Bank of America Fraud Alert).

Within five minutes I was called by a human being from another number that I KNEW was a valid Bank of America Fraud Alert number, from past experience. He never asked me for any sensitive information and he knew my full legal name. He informed me of the details of the questioned transaction (meaning he had access to my data). As soon as I said the transaction should have been valid, my card was cleared for use again.

He verified THIS NUMBER (8445850488) as a valid Bank of America Fraud number.

Later that day, I found THIS NUMBER (8445850488) in an email sent to me from Bank of America that had been sent within an hour of the declined transaction. The email contained my full legal name and final digits of the card involved so I knew it was legit.

So yes THIS number (8445850488) is legit Bank of America Fraud Alert.

I've been with Bank of America for over twenty years … and I have a list of about twenty phone numbers that I've validated as legit BoA Fraud numbers over that time. I don't know why they use so many different numbers and why they use the different ones all the time … but they do.

Keep in mind that scammers CAN spoof phone numbers; just because a valid BoA number appears on your phone, that's no guarantee that the call is legit.

If you ever doubt a BoA Fraud Alert incoming call, just don't answer it … and then call the number on the back of your card instead and tell them to transfer you to the Fraud Alert department.

Message left - caller ID says (844) 585-0488. Message claims to be from BofA Fraud Department - I must call them back ASAP.

Checking this site I see that it is likely a scam so not returning call.

1-844-585-0488 B of A Fraud Dept. called me!!!! This is a Fraudulant caller that called me asking me to verify my social and credit card number. When I didn't give it to her she got irritated and told me to just then call the number on the back of my card. I said "well you called me" and she said very arrogantly that she didn't personally call me. I said B of A doesn't call people...you have to call them. I see there are a mix bag of responses on here saying it's a fraud call to it's a real B of A phone number. When I called it back it answer just like B of A Fraud Dept. and in Spanish also with the same voice that they use for automation. So I called the number on the back of the card and B of A says that they never call you! He said Scammers are getting really good at this sort of thing. Beware!

Fraudulant. Do not talk to them. Do not call their number. If you want to talk to BofA, always call the number listed on your debit card not some random number someone saying they are bofa texted you.

Keeps calling about accounts more than a decade old

This is a verified Bank Of America number. I called the fraud department using a different number that I have on file and he verified that they did call me and that is a BofA number.

I got a text fraud alert stating B of A with this #. I called # on back of card. They said it was a legit fraud alert and the number was valid. They cancelled my card and issued new account.
