Called me saying they were from CHO, representative, Monica said they were collecting money on a loan from Alpine Payday Loans. She became very abrupt when I began questioning about the account. I called Alpine, spoke with their legal department and he said it was a scam and they do not contract out to 3rd party collection agencies.
These people called my sisters number, I called them back and they said I had an outstanding payday loan. It's BS. I told them it sounds like a scam and hung out.
While traveling I received 2 messages stating there was a Claim # for Mr. ____, and that I needed to call to discuss. My father recently passed away with a few medical bills which I thought may be the reason for the claim. When I returned the call the young lady stated her name was Maria, with ???(mumbled some type of initials for a company). I asked again, what is the company's name? She repeated it; however, I still couldn't understand, but thought perhaps it was due to highway noises. I asked what the claim pertained to. She asked if my father was there beside me (I assumed for him to give her permission to discuss the matter with me). At that point I explained my father had recently passed away; that he had lived with me for 3 years; and that I had been his caregiver and POA. Was this concerning a medical bill? She said she could not give me the reason for the call unless my father gave his permission (yeah, right!) or I gave her my father's Social Security #. I paused and stated, well, as I said my father passed away so he can't give his permission, and I'm sure you can appreciate the fact that I in no way would give you my father's SS#. I asked if she could just share "in general" what it was in regards to...again, she stated that she could not tell me anything unless I provided her with dad's SS#. I said I would NOT give her that information and said I would contact her after further looking into the situation. I immediately Googled the number and found it to be a SCAM!!!! Thank the Lord I did not comply with her foolish request. I don't know how these people live with themselves. And, if by chance, you are one of those "people" and are reading this, I pray that you will stop and realize the harm and devastation that you're creating for many innocent families and individuals.
Says you have a claim number then asks for your info. They know who you are when you call back. Claiming you owe online payday loan. Wanting to get your social but won't send bill in mail.
