'these guys are genuine.My computer was almost dead when i got a call and one of the technicians helped me fix the problem.I really appreciate their efforts.

These people called my grandmother and tried to scam her. They asked her for online banking and credit card information. They had her go to www.AMMYY.com. Don't talk to these people they are trying to scam people. They had a heavy accent and were obviously not from around here.

These people worked for two hours with my 86 year old naive mother in law scaring her with her computer was infected and they could fix it for a fee. Not only did they get her Discover CC information and charge her $177, but they also started asking her for lots of personal information including maiden names, relatives, pets and online banking username and password. Looks like identity theft effort and effort to empty bank account of all funds. Jerks!

"Robert from Microsoft" called me with the same story about virus infection and added that Nortion AntiVirus was part of the problem.

A caller named Jason had an eastern Indian accent. i could hear a background of other voices, like it was a call center. The caller told me he was from Microsoft, and they were picking up that my computer was sending out viruses or something. I pressed him for info, and learned that he knew my full name as a registered buyer of a Microsoft product. He also told me he was calling from India. He wanted me to get into the control panel of my computer, where he said I could see for myself that he was telling me he truth. I was skeptical that Microsoft would be calling me with such information. He said he was trying to help me, but if I didn't want his help, there was nothing he could do. The telephone number he gave, 847-531-9241, was obviously not a toll-free number, so I hung up and never called back. Glad I Googled the phone number and found this website to report the scam.

my mom received a call, same as everyone else is saying. I just wanted to check it out and all this info has been helpful. I told her to ignore it, but got the inf to do a little research.

I received a call today from Microsoft Online Service. Caller said her name was Nancy, heavy accent. Told me that my PC was sending them messages that I had a virus and they could help me fix it. I told her I have Norton Anti Virus loaded on my PC and I did not think it was anything serious. The call back number she left was this one and it is out of Elgin, Illinois. So glad this site is here and helps report scams like this one. I wish Microsoft would go after this operation with a vengeance.

"Microsoft Certified ..." called to warn me my computer was sending virus alerts to them. They wanted be to go to "www.logmein123.com" so they could fix it. Microsoft according to their website NEVER calls customers unless they have an existing open problem report - SCAM

These people called my parents as well. Thankfully my mom called me from her cell phone to tell me my dad was working with someone. I had him ask for a call back number and I go this number. When I called Sam back I found out this was a scam. So sad that they would actually prey on people like this!

They just called me. In this case he was Jason with some girl. He had a foreign accent and told me that they would help me to fix my computer to prevent crashing because of viruses on it. Also in this case they were from Microsoft as well and their service would cost me 177$. I already knew who they were and when I googled this number found this.

I can't remember the caller's name but he said he was from Microsoft 35 and was calling to update my computer, which was supposedly about to crash. He asked me if I wanted him to help me update it. After making sure there was no charge, I started to follow the man's directions. Soon I saw that he had logged into my computer without my consent! When he then tried to sell me something, I knew that I had been scammed. The man hung up as soon as I told him I would file a complaint with the state. However, I was frightened and had to call a computer tech to come to my home. This cost me almost $300. I found out that it's a common fraud and the targets are often senior citizens. Is there anything I can do? Thanks.

"Jim Brown" with a foreign accent called my grandparents home phone line and said he was from microsoft and that he just received an alert that their pc had many many viruses and needed to repair it right away. My grandmother gave the phone to my mother in law who took down the info and told the guy my husband ( her son) was a network engineer and we would have to speak to him about it first. The guy left the name Jim Brown and said he was with Microsoft 35 Tech Dept. and Online Repair World... (He couldnt tell us what our address was by the way.) He left this number to contact him back. 1-847-531-9241. SCAM ALERT!!!

Called my naive sister in law and convinced her to allow a tech to remote into her computer. Name was Peter, heavy Indian accent, said he was with Microsoft 35. NOt sure how long he was on her computer--doing scans now--found some malware. Gave this number as a call back number.
