A person of middle eastern decent(could tell by the voice) said he was with the attorney General Office and there was a lawsuit against me and I had 2 hours to call 850-502-4644 or they would take further actions. they didn't say what attorney General and I seriously doubt they would have Ghandi call me or would the Atty General hire such a person.....Really!
Received a call that showed as "No Caller ID." I did not answer it and they left a voicemail. The voicemail stated they were calling from the Attorney General's Office and that I needed to call 850-502-4644 within two hours (didn't say who needed to call) or a lawsuit would be filed. I called the number (knowing full well that it was probably a scam) and the phone was answered with "Attorney General's Office." I said that someone called and left a message and the person said "who is this?" To which I responded, "no, who are you." He got very rude and told me that no one from that office called and left a voicemail on my phone. They then hung up on me. Now I'm irritated so I call the number back and someone answers the phone with "Attorney General's Office this is Jack." I said, "what is your name and what is the spelling." He said it was "Jack Dawson" and then he asked me if this was (and he stated my name). I said "yes it is" and he asked me if I was calling about the call I received from the police. I told him I never received a call from the police and he rambles on about a detective is supposed to call me and that there is a warrant out for my arrest. I asked (still knowing that this was a scam) "and what is this warrant out for my arrest for?" He proceeds to say "for a payday loan you took out with Cash Advance USA, do you remember that?" I said, "no, I don't remember doing that." I have never taken out a payday loan. He responds with "well we will go down to the courthouse and we can fight it out in court." I said "ok". That's when he hung up. TOTAL SCAM.
This is a spam call. They are not part of the attorney generals office, it is a number that goes through VOIP over seas.
A call from 850-502-4644, leaving a VM on March 26, 2015, stating name is Captain William from the State Police regarding a legal lawsuit and possible arrest warrant for me. I need to call back in 2 hours to the Attorney General's Office. I retrieved my VM on March 30, 2015. I called the number back, asked for Capt. William, no such person but the person on the other side stated "this is Attorney General's office." So I asked from where and he said Florida. He then asked me for my name so he can pull it up and I said NO, I need to know more information like ID number and the name of the attorney general.... I got no answer but the ring tone. He hung up on me. I asked myself since when attorney general calling people to collect their debts? I looked up Attorney general office in Florida, her name is Pam Bondi, and the phone numbers are totally different.
call from 850-502-4644, leaving a VM telling me a law suit has been issued and I needed to call back in 2 hours to the Attorney General's Office or an arrest warrant will be issued on me.
