Received a call from an unknown person with a thick Indian accent claiming to work for "ITECH." This person claimed my computer had been sending their company alerts about "corrupted and malicious files." I asked not to be contacted again, that my number be placed on their do not call list, and for them to cease & desist all attempts at communication with me. The person on the other end was extremely persistent and called back several times after I hung up.
Another scam, this one claims they're a Houston, TX firm called Microtech Support. Their schpiel is "We've detected illegal downloads and spyware on your Vista-based machine that is accessing your private information. Send $300 now and we'll wipe it clean."
John Robinson, representing himself as Microsoft Senior Tech Engineer said received report my computer fille with viruses and he would fix for me. Said to push the MS Flag key bottom of keyboard along with letter "r" and what did I see. When I refused he couldn't believe it and asked why I would want all these viruses. When I said I thought it was a scam he told me he would hold while I use my cell to call and confirm his identify, call 561-401-0188 and his MS Tech Engineer employee number #121423. I said no thanks and hung up. (He used my name and address.)
