Internet browser locks up. Says you need to call to speak to a Microsoft-certified technician. Typical scam guy picks up and wants to take control of your computer then take your money. Don't fall for it.
Solution:
Press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[ESC] to bring up the Task Manager. Find your browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox) and click End Task.
I called the number with my government phone and a foreign accented guy answered and immediately asked about my computer. I asked some specific questions and I guess he felt intimidated and he hung up on me. This is an identity theft person ! Run the task manager and end the window that way. My suggestion clear your browsing history and browser cookies.
I received a pop-up message on my MAC laptop. It stated that Google Chrome has been automatically shut-down and there would be serious issues on my computer. The message listed the phone # to contact as 1-855-215-1037. I called the number and asked to tell me the name of the company I was calling. When I asked more questions, he yelled at me asking why I was asking so many questions. He proceeded to call me an F*****g B**ch. This is a total scam. I suggest exiting out as soon as possible. I was on FB and clicked on to view a story and video that was labeled "She was wake boarding. But keep your eyes on what happens beside her... OMG" The sponsor of the website was called Secret of Charming. When I clicked on to view the story and video - that's when the scammers website popped up.
