These mofos called and left a voicemail, "Capital One Pharmacy", saying there's an application. If you ignore the first call then they call you again like a minute later and then they don't leave a message. It's a recording, but it looks like they use the first one to check if it's a valid phone and the second one to annoy you.
I called them back later in the day and told me to go fk themselves. A women answered, you could hear that is an Indian woman with a well trained accent.

Just called me. A male with an India type accent. Asked to talk to me using my name, asked if I applied for a Capital One platinum card and he was with the fraud department to verify my application. Told him no and he said I needed to report this to the credit bureaus and I told him I have them locked so there is no need. He stumbled and didn't seem to know what to do and then repeated I need to report this to the credit bureaus and asked if he could provide me with other resources and I told him no and ended the call. Obvious scam call.

Called about 10 minutes ago with the number referenced. Caller claimed someone had applied to Capitol one for a card today and this was fraud dept checking to see if I had applied. I had not applied. They wanted my last 4 of my ssn to verify if I had applied. I asked them to send something in mail. They refused, I said verify my address and they refused.

Received the same call as everyone else from 855-522-7663. They played the same exact game. Told the guy he was a scammer and I was recording his voice and the number is not to Capital One. He claimed it was a super secret internal number. I said he was a scammer and he hung up.

Asking for personal information to confirm an application for store..asking for driver license info as part of 2 step verification.

The number 855-522-7663 is back again. They are running the Capital One scam again. Left a message to call them back about fraud against my account. Capital One was notified.

I got a call and unfortunately called them back before finding out the information here. I gave them my date of birth and they said they would cancel the fraudulent application, but now I'm concerned that they have too much information. At least I didn't give them anything else. I went against my usual instinct to just ignore those calls and now I regret it.

Capital One informed me that this number is a scam

I received a letter representing to be from Capital One saying: we're working on your recent application for a Walmart credit card, and need your help to ensure the information we have for your application is correct. I didn't apply for a Walmart credit card, however the letter instructs me to provide: a Government photo ID of myself along with my taxpayer id number. I called the number and they looked up the reference number but wanted information from me to verify myself. At first they asked just for the last 4 digits of my social security number; which at first I was reluctant but thought, it's just the last 4. Then they wanted my date of birth; which I reluctantly gave out ( oops), they said they couldn't find my name with that information and asked for my full social security number. I asked to speak with a Supervisor; who wasn't going to mark the application as fraud because they couldn't verify me.I Indicated I was going to file a police report and then they decided to go ahead and indicate they would put in the notes that I called in and indicated the application was fraudulent. They said another department that handles the credit card applications wasn't open and I would have to call back Monday etc to go any further. The more I thought about the whole thing, it just didn't seem right. Now I get a letter from supposedly BofA with the same sort of request and that phone number is 866.297.9257; which I've already found being reported as suspicious elsewhere. Ugh, can't believe I partially fell for the first ( likely ) scam.

I actually got a LETTER on Capital One letterhead with that number!

Today I received a voice mail from “Taylor “ who claimed to be from the Capital One fraud department. She left a call back number 855-522-7663 and an “ application “ number 86824298. Instead of calling that number I obtained a number by searching for Captial one. Once I was connected to the fraud department they determined that the phone number was not in their system nor was the application number in a format that they use.
